The Evidence from Science Proving the Bible’s Validity.
Science examines the systematic knowledge acquired through observation of the physical or material universe. Through scientific inquiry, various facts about the world, the cosmos, and the laws that govern this world and the universe have been identified and understood. The scientific method depends on the accurate collection and analysis of data from which scientists draw assumptions and make deductions.
Science uncovers clues, draws analogies, and provides evidence for the existence and characteristics of the invisible universe that include examples like the laws governing causation, gravity, and motion. Some argue that the Bible should not be considered scientifically accurate, believing that its religious nature makes it fallacious from a scientific perspective.
Some people who view the Bible as unscientific believe it is valued only for its moral and religious teachings. This perspective develops questions—how can we decide between what is scientifically reliable and what is spiritually true? Which biblical statements are accurate, and which are not? If even one scientific or factual claim in the Bible is unreliable, then trusting its moral or spiritual messages becomes problematical.
The reason we could not trust the spiritual statements is that we would not have a standard by which to know what things are accurate and relevant to our lives and what things are inaccurate and not to be taken seriously. All statements must be accurate in order for the validity of the whole Bible to be trustworthy and comprehensible.
The inability to rely on spiritual statements arises from the absence of a consistent criterion for determining which claims are accurate and pertinent to our lives, and which are inaccurate and should not be given consideration. It is essential that all statements are accurate to ensure that the integrity and comprehensibility of the Bible are maintained.
The accuracy of the accounts, individuals, and locations described in the Bible are presented as an indication of God’s integrity, as it provides statements intended to be understood directly and maintains consistency over time. This perspective also posits that the preservation of the Bible’s content reflects the necessity to ensure its dependability across all generations.
Therefore, the question of the Bible’s validity is intricately tied to its consistency and reliability across both spiritual and scientific matters. If the Bible can be shown to align with established scientific facts, its credibility as a trustworthy source is significantly reinforced.
This intersection encourages readers to evaluate the Bible not only as a spiritual guide but also as a document that withstands rational and empirical scrutiny.
It is necessary to have a realistic, rational, and logical view of the physical world presented in the Bible and the laws of science as an extension of the realistic, rational and logical attributes of God who is indeed the Author of the Bible.
The Bible has been demonstrated to be scientifically precise. This is imperative because it reveals a state of knowledge that could not have been obtained through any ordinary means of discovery available at the time the Bible was written. That is, if the Bible was written with scientific accuracy thousands of years ago at the time of its writing that would imply some knowledge was communicated to the biblical writers by Someone who knew the truth about the way the universe operates.
The proclaimed sacred texts of numerous world religions generally present their own systems of belief. However, each text also contains statements related to scientific matters that can serve as a discrete test of their authenticity. If these scientific claims are actually superstitions rooted in the culture of their time, then such sacred books cannot be considered divinely inspired scriptures.
If the scientific observations of Holy Scripture agree with the facts of science today, then the Bible is the inspired Word of God. Why? The Creator of the universe is the God of science—the Author, Legislator and Executor of the scientific laws that govern the universe. Only the God of science could cause scientific facts to be recorded in a book—the Bible—hundreds or thousands of years before scientist could discover them. Only the Bible contains scientific facts that anticipated scientific discovery by hundreds and in some cases several thousand years. Here are some examples of harmony between science and the Bible: “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth” (Genesis 1:1) God gave Moses these words through the inspiration of the Holy Spirit in 1449 B.C. on Mt. Sinai. In 1820 A.D., a devout evolutionist, named Herbert Spencer (1820-1903) gave the world the scientific principles by which man may study the unknown, They are time, force, energy, space and matter. Moses gave us through God’s expiration these scientific principles in Genesis 1:1. “In the beginning”-time, “God”-force, “Created” – energy, “the heavens” – space, “and the earth” – matter. All of Spencer’s scientific principles are in the first verse of the Bible. Mr. Spencer did not invent these principles; he just identified them. The following are examples of how science and the Bible are in harmonization.
