Know One Can Know the Day or Hour?

No Man Can Know The Day Or Hour?

Speaking of Judgment Day Christ said, “But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.” (Matthew 24:36) “… for ye know not what hour your Lord doth come.” (Matthew 24:42) Mark 13 gives more information concerning the same subject as Christ is speaking of Judgment Day. “But of that day and [that] hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.”(Mark 13:32) Do not these verses make it clear that no man can know the day and hour of Christ return in Judgment? Not even the Son knows.?? It would surely appears that this is indeed the case, however upon further and thorough examination; a different conclusion is possible.

During the church age no one was able to know the day and hour. The pastors, teachers and theologians of the churches and seminary had correctly understood that no one could know the day or hour of Christ’s return in Judgment. Acts 1:7 reiterates this point, “And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth.” Christ was speaking to the disciples just prior to His ascension. He was giving them the instructions for beginning the New Testament era of the Church Age and Early Rain that would last 1955 years. This took place in 33 AD, and the Holy Spirit was poured out on Pentecost, May 21, 33 AD. Christ is telling the leaders of the church age, those who represented the church age in the millenniums that would follow that it was not for them to know the “times and seasons.”

In other words, it was not for anyone during the church age to know when Christ would return in judgment, on Judgment Day. It was the churches task to get the Gospel into the World and to teach all nations; it was not for them to know the time and season of the end.(Matthew 28:19) Regardless of how hard a person studied the Bible or prayed for illumination no one was able to know the time of the end until it was God’s timetable to reveal truth. So, the pastors, teachers and theologians of the church age were correct in understanding that no one could know the day or hour of the end.

Progressive Revelation

Although the words and that make up the verses of the Bible have been complete and within the Bible for approximately 1,931 years, many verses that remained hidden from our understanding have been unveiled. The Bible projected that this would happen. “Whoso keepeth the commandment shall feel no evil thing: and a wise man’s heart discerneth both time and judgment.” (Ecclesiastes 8:5) The Hebrew word for “keepeth” is “shamar”(Strong’s H8104) and is translated “keep” 283 times in the Old Testament. It is translated as “observe, heed, keeper, preserve, mark, beware, watchmen, watch. and wait. The “commandment” is the Bible. “Whoso despiseth the word shall be destroyed: but he that feareth the commandment shall be rewarded.” (Proverbs 13:13) The Hebrew word, “yada” (Strong’s H3044) is translated “feel” in this verse but translated “know” 645 times in the Old Testament, “perceive” 18 times and “understand” 7 times. It is also translated, “declare” 6 times and “teach” 5 times. “Thing” is the Hebrew word, “dabar” (Strong’s H1697) and is translated as “word” 807 times in the Bible. A “wise man” is an elect, child of God, a true believer. “Therefore, whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock:” (Matthew 7:24) The word for “disceneth” is “yada” (Strong’s H3044)  again and is translated “know” 645 times in the Old Testament.  This verse is teaching that the elect of God would know time; that is, the Biblical Timeline of History which God has allowed just prior to the end of the church age to be understood so that it is possible to know when creation took place (11,013 BC), when the flood occurred (4990 BC), when Christ was born (7 BC) and crucified (33 AD), and many more dates for important historical events recorded in the Bible, all of which remained a mystery for centuries.

God has opened up an understanding of the timeline to reveal all the time clues that point to when Judgment Day will occur completely outside and apart from the churches, congregations and seminaries. Christ clearly indicated in Acts 1:7 that believers during the church age would not know the day nor hour, however in Ecclesiastes 8:5, God is indicating there would come a time when the elect of God would know time (The Biblical Timeline of History) and Judgment (When Judgment Day will occur). The fact that this information would be revealed very close to Judgment Day is seen in the Book of Daniel which is filled with end-time material. The information given to Daniel was so overwhelming, that it made him physically ill, “And I Daniel fainted, and was sick [certain] days; afterward I rose up, and did the king’s business; and I was astonished at the vision, but none understood [it].”(Daniel 8:27)  It was impossible to know the information about the end prior to May 21, 1988 which would be the end of the church age. “And the vision of the evening and the morning which was told [is] true: wherefore shut thou up the vision; for it [shall be] for many days.” (Daniel 8:26) At the conclusion of the book of Daniel, we read of progressive revelation, “But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, [even] to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased.” (Daniel 12:4) “And I heard, but I understood not: then said I, O my Lord, what [shall be] the end of these [things]? And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words [are] closed up and sealed till the time of the end.”(Daniel 12:8-9) This language directly parallels what is found in Revelation 5:1-5, “And I saw in the right hand of him that sat on the throne a book written within and on the backside, sealed with seven seals. And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book, and to loose the seals thereof? And no man in heaven, nor in earth, neither under the earth, was able to open the book, neither to look thereon. And I wept much, because no man was found worthy to open and to read the book, neither to look thereon. And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.

The “book” is the Bible. Revelation 8:1, “And when he had opened the seventh seal, there was silence in heaven about the space of half an hour.” The seventh seal being opened is the last seal. When it was opened, it referred to the period of “silence” that was discovered to be the first part of the Great Tribulation, the first 2300 days of the Great Tribulation in which the Church age ended. This was May 21, 1988. This is when Satan was set up by God to rule in the churches, as Christ came as the Judge of all the churches and removed His Holy Spirit so that no one was becoming saved in the churches, or even in all the world, that is what is meant by the “silence.” So, after the seventh seal was removed, the information regarding the enormity of mankind’s sin and what judgment really is and what salvation is, along with the timeline and when Christ would come back as Judge of all the earth on Judgment day could be known by God’s elect who were diligently looking into and studying the Bible.

The seals had been removed from God’s Word so that the elect would know time and judgment with the Word of God given Daniel would now be known. God had spoken and the those in the churches had correctly understood that no man could know the day and hour of Christ’s return for the 1955 years of the church age, however, after May 21, 1988 and at the end of the church age and beginning of the Great Tribulation, God was revealing to His elect outside the churches when the day of judgment would come.

No matter how hard, or how diligent a theologian, pastor, teacher or anyone attempted to figure out when Christ would return as Judge, no one could possibly know nor is not because those discerning both time and judgment are smarter of gifted then those who still cling unto not knowing the day or hour. It is only because of God’s timetable in revealing His Word to God’s elect today, after the church age ended, are we able to know the day of Judgment and when it will come.

God must open the spiritual eyes and ears of His elect in order for them to understand the Bible correctly, “Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,” (Luke 24:45) God declares that the true believers, the elect of God, who are called prophets, because a prophet speaks the Word of God which is the Bible will know His secrets and keeping the information regarding the end of the church age and when Judgment Day would occur have been hidden by God in His Word for many centuries.

God declares that His elect will know His secrets. “Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.” (Amos 3:7) This language is similar to what is found I Corinthians 4:3, “But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:”(II Corinthians 4:3) The Bible remains a mystery to the unsaved and although the depths of its riches can never be totally understood nor found by God’s elect, God guides them into understanding the mysteries that He reveals concerning time and judgment so that they can proclaim warning unto the unsaved in the world who are in and on outside of the churches.

Even the Son?

Mark 13:32, “But of that day and [that] hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.” This is a proof text that is used by those in the churches who say we cannot know the day of hour of Christ’s coming. They say, “Even the Son of God” doesn’t know the day or hour. Can this be true? How can the Son of God not know the day of His coming? Christ is God, He is the fullness of the Godhead, bodily.(Colossians 2:9) He cannot be separated from the Father, so how can He not know? (John 14:9) Christ, who is God knows all. “Why, seeing times are not hidden from the Almighty, do they that know him not see his days? (Job 24:1) Of course Christ knows the day and hour of His coming. A closer look at the word, “Son” in Mark 13:34 reveals it should not be capitalized. The King James Translators mistakenly capitalized the word “son.” Any Interlinear Bible will clearly show that Greek word, “huios” (Strong’s G5207) is not capitalized. “Huios” is translated as the “son of perdition” in John 17:12 and II Thessalonians 2:3. The “son of perdition” is Satan. Satan did not know the day or hour of Christ’s return prior to the end of the church age. Mark 13:32 was incorrectly taught and misunderstood for centuries.

God deliberately wrote the Bible to be ambiguous to hide its truths until these last days in which He has opened the understanding of his elect unto its truths. God also allowed the translators to make mistakes here and there in translation of the ancient text in order to hide the Bible’s truth until these last days in which He has granted a correct understanding of His Word unto His elect. God has allowed and provided Bible study tools of concordances, lexicons, and Interlinear Bibles have helped greatly in aiding the diligent Bible student to correctly understood what has remained hidden and incorrectly understood and taught for so long. By incorporating the essential hermeneutical principle of comparing scripture with scripture has God opened the understanding of the elect so they can indeed know the day and hour of Judgment Day: May 21, 2011.

CORRECTION: A Better Understanding of the Word, “Knowing,” as in Experiencing Rather than an Intellectual Knowledge or Awareness.

In Mark 13:32, the Greek text cannot identify who “the Son” is because ancient manuscripts were written entirely in capitals, so English capitalization is interpretive, not inspired. The word huios (υἱός) simply means “son,” and only becomes “Son of God” when paired with theos (Matthew 11:27) or “son of perdition” when paired with apōleia (2 Thessalonians 2:3). Since Mark 13:32 contains no such modifier, the identity must be determined by context. Christ Himself explains the meaning of “knoweth no man” through the parallel in Matthew 24:36–39, where the people in Noah’s day “knew not until the flood came” (v. 39), even though Noah did know the exact day of judgment (Genesis 7:4). This shows that “knowing” does not refer to lacking calendar knowledge information but to not yet experiencing the judgment.

Scripture uses “know” this way elsewhere: Joseph “knew her not” (Matthew 1:25), the LORD is “known by the judgment which he executeth” (Psalm 9:16), and Egypt would “know that I am the LORD” through judgment (Exodus 14:4). Therefore, when Jesus said “neither the Son knows” (Mark 13:32), it means that as the Son of Man, He had not yet experienced the judgment of God as demonstrated on the cross. Christ had already been judged and found guilty as the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world (Revelation 13:8), where the atonement for the elect was eternally accomplished and complete.

Yet as history would unfold according to God’s plan it was at Gethsemane and the cross that He would “know”—that is, personally experience—the wrath of God as a demonstration of what He bore as the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world. The difference being that He had already satisfied God’s condemnation and guilt for the sins of His elect and before time, yet he would be innocent and sinless in His human nature approaching the demonstration of the cross. Thus, in Mark 13:32, Christ had not yet known the day and hour because He had not yet undergone the experiential judgment of God, as he demonstrated on the cross on April 3, 33AD.
