The Biblical Timeline of History: Introduction
God clearly reveals the evidence of His existence through General and Natural Revelation. However, God has most importantly, revealed Himself through His Word, The Bible. This is His Special Revelation to mankind. The supreme purpose of God’s Word has been providing a means by which to enlighten His elect of His mercy in the person of Christ being slain before the foundation of the world (Revelation 13:8) and successfully paying for the sins of His people as evidenced by His Resurrection (John 11:25) as the only begotten Son of God. (John 3:16) God, through Christ, The Holy Spirit having applied the washing of regeneration (Titus 3:5 & Ephesians 5:26) or “hearing” of the word unto His elect unto their salvation (Romans 10:17).
The Word (which we know is Christ-John 1:14) reveals, His creation, His Law, our accountability to Him, His Justice and His precious Mercy. The Word displays all this information within the structure of time and is accomplished in the transient of time. God revealed truth through the Old Testament time and then the New Testament time. In this time, He has revealed to us for a third time, information that has always been in the Bible, yet never known regarding time. God has graciously allowed us to understand truths that have been previously hidden. “Behold, the days come, saith the Lord, when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah:” (Hebrews 8:8) “I will make a new covenant,” would be better translated, “I will finish a new covenant.” The Greek word is “συντελέω synteléō,”Strong’s G4931 here is translated as make but is translated as “end” four times, “fulfill,” once and “finish,” once elsewhere in the New Testament and only here is it translated “make” which does not fit, however “finish” does. The new covenant is the New Testament, but it is now, in our day, the days have come over the last half century in which God has and is finishing our understanding of the covenant by allowing us to understand new truths that have always been in the Bible. “And he said, Go thy way, Daniel: for the words [are] closed up and sealed till the time of the end.”(Daniel 12:9) A tremendously important truth that God has revealed in these last days is His Biblical Timeline of History, which is the foundation to our understanding of what accurately constitutes salvation, the nature, and duration of judgment, and the rapidly approaching end of time.
