The Institute holds that the Bible is its own interpreter. Bible truth is not established nor understood by the natural minds of men, their ecclesiastical authorities, their methods of biblical interpretation, nor their creeds and confessions, but rather by the method embedded within Scripture by God for the spiritually minded — comparing Scripture with Scripture, precept upon precept, line upon line, under the illumination of the Spirit who authored it. Christ spoke in parables, and without a parable He did not speak; the whole of the Word therefore bears a spiritual sense that the natural mind cannot reach, and no human method can unlock. ITJS is committed to teaching God’s own hermeneutic, embedded exclusively within His Word: the Bible. Comparing spiritual with spiritual (1 Corinthians 2:13–14) — that is, comparing the words of Scripture with all the other words of Scripture — is the hermeneutical foundation anchoring every course ITJS offers. Students are not taught what to conclude. They are taught how to search — how to let the Word define its own terms, disclose its own types, and establish its own doctrine as the Holy Spirit grants us understanding.
